What is BetelLeaf?

BetelLeaf is an online Yellow Pages Business Directory catering to people of South Asian and Indian origin. BetelLeaf Canada currently has over 50,000 companies listed.


How did my business get here?

Your colleagues could have added your business to BetelLeaf .Also many of BetelLeaf’s listings have been sourced from crawling publicly available information on the internet.


Why is not my business listed first?

Businesses appear at the top of the list due to their ranking first, and alphabetical order second. Ranking is determined by the amount of relevant information contained in your listing. The more information relevant to the search term, the higher your ranking. Relevant information can be contained in:

  • business description, including brand information
  • web address (URL)
  • product and service areas - keywords that you add to your listing
  • articles (particularly the headlines) that you add to your listing

The more relevant information you have on your company listing pertaining to a particular search phrase, the more likely you are to appear on the first page of results for that search phrase.



Why can not I see my business email address?

Due to privacy laws, we are not able to show this information. If you want to check or update the email address we hold for your business, you can do so by clicking on the Update Now link on your company listing page and following the instructions.


What is the difference between a business email address and an administrator email address?

They can be the same address, but you may wish to use two separate addresses. The business email address will be linked from your company listing page, and will be the address at which you will receive any enquiries from potential customers. The administrator’s email address is the address you will use to log in to your account, and may be used by the BetelLeaf team to contact you regarding your company listing.


Can I email businesses listed on BetelLeaf ?

If we have an email address for the business, there will be a link beneath the contact details that allows you to email them directly. Click on this link to email the company. If there is no link, the company has not provided an email address.


How do I add my business details?

You can add your business to BetelLeaf by simply clicking on the add my business link on the Homepage, or at the top or bottom of any page on the site. Supply as much information as you can about the products and services you provide. This is your chance to promote your business, so think about what differentiates you from your competitors and highlight this in your company description.


How do I update/edit my business details already on BetelLeaf?

Simply go to your company listing, click on the “Update Now” button, and follow the instructions. If you do not have your password, enter your email address and hit the [Resend Password] button.


What should I put under the Latest News headline on my listing?

This is where you can add articles about your products/services to keep BetelLeaf visitors up-to-date with your latest product and service offerings, special offers, general business activities, etc. Uploading products and services articles may increase the amount of relevant information that your listing contains with regard to certain keywords. The increase in relevant information may help your ranking on both BetelLeaf and search engines such as Google.


How do I add information to the Latest News section of my listing?

Simply go to your company listing on BetelLeaf and log in through the "Update Now" button. Once you are logged in, click [Add My Products and Services] at the top of the page to upload text and images.


What should I do if I have forgotten my password?

Click on the Login link at the top of the page, or "Update Now" on your company listing. Type in your email address, then choose [Resend Password] and you will receive a new password within 48 hours.


Can my business have more than one administrator?

FREE listings only have the facility for one administrator per business. However, if you upgrade your listing to paid “Priority” listing you can enter more than one business under one administrator.


Can i add more than one business or multiple locations of the same business under one Administrator?

Yes. If you have a "Priority" status listing you can add multiple locations of same business or multiple businesses.



Will priority listing status apply to all businesses under one administrator?

“Priority” listing status will only apply to one listing unless additional subscriptions have been purchased for the other businesses under that administrator.


Can I change my business description?

Yes. Just go to your company listing, click on the "Update Now" button and login. Click [Update] next to “Business Description” to update that section.


What makes a good company description?

Use this space to tell prospective customers what you do, where you are located, and which localities you service. Think about what a customer might type into a search engine to find you and make sure you use these phrases. Use your company name as frequently as possible, rather than using ‘we’, as search engines respond to the repetition of phrases.

A description might read: We are a leading supplier of women’s fashion and are located in Brampton, Ontario. We have been serving the area for over 10 years and we look forward to your business.

A better description is: Zoni Fashion is a leading supplier of women’s fashion. Located in Toronto, Zoni Fashion attracts buyers from all over Ontario. Established for over 10 years, we carry a range of labels, including (x), (y), and (z). Zoni Fashion specialises in women’s formal wear, beach wear and swimwear. We also carry a large range of women’s fashion accessories. Zoni Fashion, women’s fashion in Toronto.


Can I add more Product and Service Areas keywords to my business listing?

Yes, there is a limit of 6 keywords for FREE listings but no limit for “Priority” listings. Relevant keywords will increase your ranking in BetelLeaf and search engines like Google.(see “What makes a good Product and Service Areas keyword” below). To add more keywords simply go to your company listing and login through the “Update Now” button. Click on [Update] next to “My Keywords” to add further keywords.


What makes a good Product and Service keyword?

A Product or Service is a keyword that you believe customers will use when searching for your business products and services online. A Product or Service keyword can be general or specific, but it must relate to the products or service areas of your business. It is in your company's interest to use appropriate and pertinent keywords. The more relevant the keyword, the more likely your listing is to receive positive hits, which will potentially generate business for you.

For example, an engineering company based in Vancouver cannot use the keyword "Vancouver" for two reasons:

  • "Vancouver" is not a product or service offered by the engineering company
  • People conducting online searches using the keyword ‘Vancouver’ will not be looking for an engineering company

Similarly, a business supplying audio equipment cannot use the keyword 'sales' as:

  • The word "sales" does not indicate anything specific to the company s product and service offering
  • People conducting online searches using the keyword "sales" alone are not likely to be looking for an audio equipment supplier

A good alternative to the keyword "sales" would be "CDs" or "amplifiers" as these are more representative of the products the business offers.



How do I remove my business details on BetelLeaf?

Simply login through the “Update Now” button on your company listing. Once logged in you can change any details you wish to, or remove your listing by clicking the [Remove Listing] button on the left hand side.


Why can't I login?

  • Check that you have typed your email address correctly.
  • If your company listing has an administrator's email that is different to the business email, make sure that you have entered this one.
  • Check that you have typed your password correctly.
If you cannot see any reason why your login should be refused, please Contact BetelLeaf  and provide as much information as possible, including any error messages that you received. We will respond to your email as soon as possible.


How do I submit a complaint?

How do I report incorrect data in BetelLeaf? Eg. incorrect telephone number or website, etc

Does BetelLeaf list businesses outside the USA?

BetelLeaf.ca is an online directory for Canadian businesses only and does not list businesses from outside the Canada.

However, HotFrog does have international sites for countries including:
